She was a sports reporter for some of the biggest media outlets across the nation. The time she worked working at The Washington Post was spent covering several Olympics, Grand Slam Tennis, football and basketball. Nichols was awarded two Emmy Awards during her nine-year period with ESPN as well as being featured on some of its most watched shows such as NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, was transferred to ESPN after 2004. She also worked as the correspondent of Monday Night Football on the network. Her next move was to CNN and Turner Sports. Unguarded: Rachel Nichols hosted her own show on CNN International. Over a billion viewers watched the show across the globe. Nichols also worked for TNT for NBA broadcasts during the playoffs and broadcasts for the All-Star game. Nichols also reported on golf, baseball as well as Final Four broadcasts for CBS and TBS. It is the only nomination for this award to a woman from the more than 200 nominees candidates.
